Power Infrastructure Engineered for Continuity

250 Front Street West is built to support mission‑critical workloads with full redundancy built into every layer of its power architecture.

The facility is supported by two independent 13.8kV / 10MVA utility feeds delivered through separate paths and distributed via a dual Pilot Wire Scheme.

Power distribution includes:

  • Four transformers
  • Four 5,000kVA switchboards
  • Eaton Powerware smart switching matrix
  • Two fully independent electrical riser environments per floor

In the event of utility disruption, four fully redundant UPS systems (two 1,100kW and two 750kW) provide immediate battery backup with 15 minutes of runtime.

Four 2.5MW Caterpillar generators provide backup generation. A TSSA-approved fuel system with 60,000 litres of diesel supports 24 hours of full facility operation, with dual vendor agreements ensuring continued resupply.

Sustainable and Redundant Cooling

Cooling at 250 Front Street West is primarily delivered through the Enwave’s Deep Lake Water Cooling (DLWC) system, an innovative technology that uses the cold temperatures of Lake Ontario to cool our data centre.

To ensure resilience and operational continuity, cooling infrastructure is supplemented by two 1,200‑ton Daikin chillers that provide fully redundant mechanical backup and failover, maintaining stable operating conditions in the event of reduced or unavailable DLWC capacity.

This combination of energy‑efficient primary cooling and built‑in mechanical redundancy ensures consistent thermal performance for mission‑critical and high‑density workloads, preventing overheating and performance degradation.

Security Across Physical and Digital Domains

Physical Security

Access control is enforced through electromagnetic locking mechanisms, card access systems and biometric authentication, including facial recognition, retinal scanning and fingerprint identification. More than 200 CCTV cameras monitor the facility 24 hours a day, with 90-day video retention. Mantrap security systems and on-site security personnel operate continuously.

Digital Security

Telehouse Canada maintains a structured digital security program that includes regular vulnerability assessments, endpoint detection and response controls, controlled privileged access and next-generation firewall technologies supported by cloud analytics. Asset inventories are maintained actively, and third-party oversight provides independent validation.

Fire Suppression
